I often think about how my children view their life experiences and what memories they make. My own childhood memories are often disjointed flashes of moments that resonated with me for some reason and have therefore stuck with me. As I watch my kids grow and listen to them talk about what they remember, I am struck by the connections they make—or fail to make—in processing what has been our life together so far. These images examine their earnest focus and attention on their imaginary worlds and the characters that populate their inner lives. Seemingly, there is drama in every event, be it a simple haircut or bath; everything is moving fast, crashing, exploding, or in some way fascinating as a component of their growing imaginations. This collection strikes me as a collage of moments that works in a way similar to their own memories. They are all images that take me back to that moment. They feel somehow moving and nostalgic. I am interested to see if the images I continue to add as my children grow evoke the same feelings.
